I never really knew until today where one would go to make said blog, and I stumbled here in a vain effort to find my school's blog, which remains a mystery to me.
I guess I'll talk about what's up in my life.
The name is Dan. I'm 16, I play the bass in a band called Dirty Sally, and we need a singer, and some better coordinating of songs.
My leg is currently broken. On friday, a man in a pick-up truck ran a stop sign and hit me. But he did stop and help me, which was great, cause I got knocked into the middle of the street, and there I would've remained had he not helped me.
I'm rambling.
So I'll talk about something more prudent, and more obvious. Politics.
Now, I'm not after telling you who to vote for, I just want to talk. I am a democrat, and I would vote for Barack Obama. My issue is people my age and older.
I don't hate John McCain. I don't like his politics, and I really don't like Sarah Palin, but I respect John McCain, and I respect people's support of him.
I'm getting sick of people who don't do just that. Whenever I mention something to my mother that John McCain did right, she gets seemingly actually angry. The people in my classes absolutely hate McCain, and his supporters, some of them are convinced that if you are a republican, you are not only wrong, you are a bad person.
My problem with this, deeper down, is that these kids support these candidates for one of two reasons. 1)Their Parents tell them to, and 2)They're black.
Those are the only reasons! I am fully aware that if my parents were republican, they so would I, and that I would easily defend McCain in political conversations, instead of Obama. It's simply true. There is a girl in my class who mentions Obama as the "Change we need" virtually verbatim from some campaign commercial nearly everyday. She finds some meaningless way to inject it into our english discussions, no matter how off topic it truly is, and that aggravates me to no end.
I am totally rambling. I don't know, I would just tell these kids, and you, if anyone is actually reading this, to really take a good look at a candidate, their background, what they stand for, and come up with a good reason not to like them, a serious reason that makes sense, not simply "because" or misaligned quotes leftover from the campaign trail.
That's all I got. Next time it won't be a political posting, I just had to get this out of my system.
